Rural Rotation Guide

What You Need to Know

Below you can find information to prepare you for your rural rotations. Two of the steps are before you leave for your rural rotation, two are for during your rural rotation, and two are for when you return from your rural rotation.

Pre-Rotation

First Day Plan

Watch for an email from Jody two weeks before your rotation. It will contain the contact information for who you will report to on your first day along with when and where to meet them.

Check Out the Site Page

Take a look at the page for the site you are visiting to learn a little more about where you will be during the rotation. You can find more information on the clinic, the physician team, and the community you will be a part of.

During Your Rotation

Housing

You will stay in a hotel while training in Portage, Waupun, and Baldwin. The Monroe Clinic provides its own housing for trainees. All hotel and housing accommodations will be organized by program staff in advance of your rotation.

Call

You will take call at the rural hospitals. The call schedule on your rural rotations will be similar to your call schedule in Madison, which is approximately 1 in 7. Rural call is designed to be complaint with duty hour restrictions.

Post-Rotation

Mileage Submission

Once you have completed your rotation, Jody will reach out to you to submit a set of details to our Financial Specialists to ensure you get paid for your mileage during your rural rotation.
This MUST be completed within 90 days of your return for reimbursement.
